Symptoms:
- Extremely itchy rash; often but does not always, makes a pattern that is ring-shaped
- Infected hand areas look like athlete's foot. The skin on the palm of the hand becomes thick, dry, and flaky. The skin between the fingers become moist and develop open sores.
- Jock itch: Rash in the skin folds in the groin area, and may spread to the buttocks or inner thighs
- If ringworm affects the hair, bald patches will begin to occur
- If ringworm affects the nails, they will become discolored and thick, and eventually break
Ringworm may affect people of all ages, but is especially common among children.
Ringworm can spread by skin-to-skin contact.
